 Favorite Song/s of Pete's
« Thread Started on Apr 14, 2008, 8:11pm »

I felt bad that the Pete section of the forum had nothing on it! So I decided to make a thread.
Okay.
So, what are some of your most favorite songs that Pete has written?
I'm partial to The Song is Over, Getting In Tune, and Going Mobile.. Trust me, if I listed anymore, the list would be huge!
xD

When I first read the title of this thread I thought you meant solo Pete. So that's the question I'm gonna answer.

I'm a gigantic fan of his album Empty Glass. Actually it's the only solo album I have of his. But anyway, I'd say the best songs off of it are Let My Love Open The Door, Rough Boys, A Little Is Enough, and Jools And Jim.

Pete's awesome. That's all I have to say.

Um, yeah, thought you meant solo Pete...if we go into Who Pete, my keyboard dies, so...

I really, really love Who Came First. Like, really. 'Evolution', even if it's technically Ronnie, is sheer love, and 'Sleeping Dog', 'The Seeker', 'Sheraton Gibson', 'There's A Heartache Following Me', 'Content', 'Mary Jane', etc. are also wonderful. But I do love me some Empty Glass, yes...'Rough Boys' is awesome, and 'Let My Love Open The Door' is growing on me.

I didn't mean anything specific, I just like, don't know any of Pete's solo work outside of Let My Love Open the Door (Which is an amazing song, btw), so I used Who stuff! ^^;

I absolutely ADORE "Let My Love Open The Door". I got a nifty childhood story for this one, too: when I was about five my favorite movie was Look Who's Talking starring Kirstie Alley and John Travolta. I still love that movie. Anyhoo, that was the song that played over the end credits. I always loved it, and then about five years ago or so I found out it as a Pete Townshend song. Which I thought was hilarious, for some reason. A lot of the things I loved as a kid ended up having importance in my later life. (Like Ringo and, later, George Carlin on Shining Time Station. That show was HUGE in my three to five year old world, and then later, I became fans of both the guys who played Mr. Conductor. Weird.)

Haha, I used to watch Shining Time Station... xD
That might be the reason that George Carlin looked so familiar when I started getting into his comedy... xD
But yeah. I understand about the childhood stuff being important.
When I was a kid, I had this video called "Gate to the Mind's Eye" which is a bunch of random computer animation clips put together for a sort of free, loose story... And Thomas Dolby did the music for it.. Little did I know that I'd get into a huge Thomas Dolby craze years and years later.. lol.
And. My mom had a Queen Greatest Hits record that I remember hearing as a child, and I ended up being obsessed with Queen years later.
And. Haha. The Lion King was what first got me into Elton John... xD
I'll stop babbling now! ^^;

Afterthought: Let My Love Open the Door is such a beautiful song.. So cute. I have to listen to it like, five times in a row whenever it comes on my windows media player lol.

Oh man, Angie, Thomas The Tank Engine was my life for like a million years...<3 I'm convinced that I fell in head over heels in love with Ringo only because he was my favourite conductor. Heh.

...Melody, whoa, man. o.0 Go out and get Who Came First. LYKE NOW. Otherwise I'll send it to you...^^ Or Empty Glass...all good stuff, I just got both of them on vinyl too.

Anyone a fan of White City? I haven't heard it yet, but someone said it wasn't very good...

One of the happiest days of my life was when my two-year-old cousin started watching Thomas The Tank Engine. It was neat that we could share that. Hehe.

Actually, Empty Glass is my only Pete solo album, but I'm interested in hearing more. *hinthint*
